coffee table - il tavolino (da caffè)

chandelier - il lampadario

fireplace - il caminetto

From what I know “il televisore” is the object, while “la televisione” is the medium.

Examples:

1. Ho comprato un televisore nuovo. // I bought a new tv.

2. Mi piace guardare i miei film preferiti in televisione. // I like watching my favourite films in tv.

3. La televisione è un mezzo di comunicazione di massa. // Television is a mass medium.

Even if I have noticed a lot of us, Italian native speakers, using “la televisione” for every meaning.
